Rather than being proud of all I have done and where I am, I tend to downplay accomplishments or only see how far I still have to go. I need to realize that just a few years ago, I would not have been doing any of these things. I have had to change my mindset about things. I had to step way outside my comfort zone for many things. So, I am working on that inner voice that responds with these qualifications on accomplishments.
Perfection is not required. Progress is.
I've always wondered about these sort of thoughts. You know, one part of your mind takes the positive, and one part takes the negative. I think everyone suffers from this, it's just the way human brains are wired. Example: I've just reached my goal weight, BUT it took 3 years and I yoyoed 17kg in the process.
ReplyDeleteWe never give ourselves enough credit where it is due. It's a work in progress for sure:)
ReplyDeleteI have the tendency to do that little dissatisfaction thing--until I realize that it ruins all of the fun of fitness. Then, I stop it because I like to enjoy my play time.
